Summary:
The party spends some time at the Library of Kalester, and find out that Garlan is using the Kunnig catacombs as a base of operations. He may have found an illegal way of traveling between Nexus and Kunnig, bypassing the gates. They head toward the Seedy Hole, but end up in a large battle, after which they flee down a side street.
Sarah's Telling:
We arrived at the Library, and told Maika of our journeys. She informed me that we should wait for the Council of Loremasters to meet. This, she said, will take a few days.
I showed Miles to a place he can stay in the temple during our wait, and Patches returned to his monistary. In the intervening week, I worked on crafting myself a set of divinatory symbols based on my research into the Zattaren alphabet, and Miles worked on wizardly pursuits.
When the Council met, they decided that we three, plus another seeker of Kalester, Galdvis, should countinue to seek out the late Kundol's work. I am honoured to be trusted with this task, especially in light of the newfound complications.
We asked Maika, but she seemed to not have any information on Sanria, nor any pertinent information on the new magelord of Kunnig, but the Council believes that Garlan is using the catacombs as a base of operations, and that he has found some way to bypass the gates when traveling between Nexis and Kunnig. This, of course, is against the law, and we have been told we should find some way to tell the Library if we find out any other information.
We headed out in a carriage toward the Seedy Hole, to see if the barkeep there, who we now knew to be friendly toward our cause, knows anything new, and to seek out the whereabouts of Kariss. On the way, however, our carriage crashed, and we are confronted with a battle.
There are a few imps on the streets killing, and otherwise encouraging the movement away of, the commoners. They actually never concern themselves with us in the course of the battle, and instead chase the people off into the distance.
We are left dealing with a wizard, and a couple of Howlers, which we eventually dispense of. I am able to convince the boys to let me, and even help me, in the case of the other cleric, heal up the bystanders dying on the streets in front of me, while Patches picks up whatever bit of pretty the wizard has on him.
The battle wrapped up, we flee down a side street.
